What is Leafy?
Leafy (Lightfoot Eco-Adventures for Youth) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to helping young people create a more sustainable world. We aim to increase young people's well-being and eco-awareness through the provision of positive and meaningful experiences, derived from a unique mix of adventure, mindfulness and eco-action activities. These experiences will then empower them to make a difference in their schools, families, communities and wider world.
We are based in Manchester and currently work with schools and community groups from all over the north-west of England.

What are Leafy's aims?
- Build awareness and understanding of the environment, our impacts on it and how we can better protect it;
- Promote the protection and conservation of the environment through volunteering and sustainability stewardship; and encourage young people to make positive contributions in their families, schools, communities and the wider world;
- Enhance personal well-being through mindfulness and relaxation sessions and meaningful outdoor experiences;
- Help young people explore their own strengths in a safe environment and develop skills to overcome challenges that will stay with them for years to come.
How is Leafy organised?
Leafy is made up of a team of experienced, enthusiastic volunteers and a dedicated management committee. Our Education Officers have over fifteen years experience and we ensure any additional staffing is provided by trained and experienced delivery partners working to the highest health & safety standards.
How is Leafy funded?
We have a structured fundraising strategy with which we aim to offer the highest possible subsidies to all those enjoying Leafy programmes. Funding for Leafy's subsidised programmes comes from a variety of sources, including:
- Charitable trust funds
- Commercial sponsorship
- Local authority contracts
- Private donations
