Leafy summer programmes 2010

With new elements and more hands-on eco-activities, Leafy's improved 2010 summer programme was a great success. The new laughter for health sessions worked fantastically well, and kids, staff and teachers enjoyed a hearty giggle. Another highlight was the outdoor adventure: “I really liked the canoeing best because everyone was smiling and everyone worked as a team.” And discussing climate change brought up many ideas on small steps to protect the environment: “I will always turn the lights off when I go home.”

This confirms the success of the unique combination of Leafy's activities, and we are looking forward to expand our programmes further in the coming year.

Leafy also piloted its new family programme, which is based around families sharing outdoor challenges and moments of relaxation for long-lasting experiences. Again, the combination of activities worked incredibly well, with lots of fun for both kids and parents. The participants also generated lots of ideas on how to make their daily life more sustainable, taking a step towards a greener future.

For more experiences, and photos of the programmes, have a look at our blog and Facebook page!

To be part of the 2010/2011 programmes, get in touch soon as there are only a few subsidised places left.

Leafy is now taking bookings for 2010/2011

We are now taking bookings for our summer 2011 programmes and there are still some spaces left on our September/October 2010 programmes. Leafy has limited funding available to subsidise these programmes but apply soon as places are filling up fast.

Leafy summer 2010 programmes to include laughter therapy!

As well as mindfulness activities to encourage focus, concentration and self-reflection skills, Leafy’s summer programmes will also include laughter therapy. Apart from being a whole lot of fun, laughter has numerous therapeutic properties including reducing stress, boosting the immune system and producing endorphins which make us feel good.

The sessions will consist of understanding laughter and the difference between genuine, inclusive laughter and ‘teasing or taunting’ laughter and games and activities guaranteed to have everyone giggling, belly laughing and even rolling around on the floor. After all, there is truth in the old saying: ‘Laughter is the best medicine’!

Leafy receives funding to trial Family programme

Having received funding from The Grassroots Fund, Leafy will be piloting a new programme for families. This will be offered at a heavily subsidised rate to participants and will include adventure, sustainability and conservation activities as well as mindfulness and laughter therapy. As part of this programme, Leafy will offer a number of ‘Family Days’ to introduce the programme and also follow up conservation and mindfulness sessions within the communities.
